Overview
Aion Empire is an independent MMORPG project that recreates the early versions of Aion with a focus on the classic PvPvE experience. The official site is aionempire.com. The project has run since 2019 and positions itself as a classic server with original game files, no pay-to-win mechanics, and a gradual seasonal content rollout โ from patch 1.2 up to 1.9.
The key difference from most alternatives is its staged seasonal model: content is not all available at once but unlocks as the community progresses. At the start of Stage 1 (October 6, 2025) the level cap was 37 and the zones matched patch 1.2. Each subsequent stage adds new areas, instances and systems, bringing the server closer to the full patch 1.9. Total concurrent online sits at 2,500+ players, making Aion Empire one of the most populated Aion projects in its segment.
The project runs on 100% retail files โ the software base of the official game โ which keeps quests, skills and game mechanics working correctly. A built-in anti-cheat system adds another layer of protection to the game environment.
Patch Versions (1.2 / 1.7 / 1.9)
Aion Empire does not lock content to a single patch โ the server moves through several versions as sequential stages. Each stage matches a specific patch of the original Aion Classic.
| Stage | Patch | Level cap | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 | 1.2 | 37 | Launched October 6, 2025; Ishalgen, Altgard, Morheim (Asmodians) and Poeta, Verteron, Eltnen (Elyos), plus the Abyss |
| Stage 2 | 1.5โ1.7 | increasing | New zones and instances open; the jump happens once most players reach the current cap |
| Stage 3+ | 1.9 | 50 | Third stage, opening level 50; introduced after the community clears Stage 2 progress |
This format is borrowed from official Aion Classic (NCSoft) practice: seasonal progression keeps the community together at the same content milestone and prevents a gap between newcomers and veterans. Stage transitions are not tied to a calendar โ the team follows actual player progress instead.
Patches 1.2, 1.7 and 1.9 cover the period of early Aion (roughly 2008โ2010 in the official timeline) โ the era of the most intense rift fights, the Abyss as the only source of AP gear, and the first major fortress sieges.
Gameplay & Rates
Aion Empire advertises retail rates (unnerfed drop rates) โ that is, drop and XP rates identical to the official Aion of that era, with no administrative reduction. The exact XP multipliers are not publicly disclosed; per the project description, character progression is meant to be deliberate and built for long-term play rather than a quick rush to cap.
Core mechanics follow the early Aion patches:
- Factions: Elyos and Asmodians fight in the Abyss for Abyss Points (AP) and fortress control. Rifts between zones let you invade enemy territory.
- Flight: aerial combat is an integral part of the Abyss and rift clashes. Some zones are only reachable by flying.
- Classes: eight base archetypes that specialize at level 10. In the 1.x patches you can play Gladiator, Templar, Ranger, Assassin, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric and Chanter.
- Stage 1 instances: Nochsana Training Camp and Fire Temple โ the first group dungeons.
- Dredgion instance: from level 36, Jantra's Dredgion opens โ a PvPvE instance where Elyos and Asmodian groups compete for points inside the same dungeon.
- Siel's Aura: a premium subscription system that unlocks extra bonuses to progression and crafting.
- Daeva Pass: a seasonal battle pass with rewards for completing tasks in the current stage.
For new characters the team provides starter bonuses that speed up early progress. The economy is deliberately built without direct sale of powerful items โ in-game shop items are cosmetic or supportive in nature.
Servers & Sieges
Aion Empire runs on a single main server with staged progression. There are no parallel servers with different rates, as some other projects offer โ the whole community clears content as one stream. According to the team, concurrent online holds steadily above 2,500 players.
In Stage 1, traditional fortress sieges are replaced by the Chaos Dracus system โ a raid boss that both factions compete to kill. Full fortress sieges open in later stages as the relevant zones are added.
The Abyss is available from Stage 1: here factions fight for AP and fortifications. At level 36+ the Dredgion is added โ a PvPvE instance with team-vs-team clashes.
Across April and May 2026 the team shipped the "Flame of Changes" update, reworking Divine Fortress mechanics and the siege schedule and adding Flame Dragon and Tiamat tier crafted weapons. Steady updates confirm the project is under active, ongoing support.
Community & Knowledge Base
One of Aion Empire's standout tools is its knowledge base at kb.aionempire.com. It holds catalogs of items (weapons, armor, accessories), NPCs by faction and zone, quests, recipes for the seven crafts, interactive zone maps and current server news. In coverage it is a full game reference, comparable to the wikis of major projects.
News and announcements are posted on news.aionempire.com and the forum.aionempire.com. The forum is bilingual: official announcements are mirrored in both Russian and English.
A PvP and PvE ranking system, introduced in early 2026, lets players track personal achievements in their account dashboard and compare results with other players on the server. The account dashboard is reachable through the official site after registration.
For real-time chat and announcements there is Discord (discord.gg/MYbkKRVcQs) and a Telegram channel (t.me/aionempire). A streamer partner program points to an active content-creator audience around the project.
To compare with other Aion projects built on similar principles, see Aion Classic (NCSoft's official retro server) and Aion Destiny (patch 4.6). The full list of independent Aion projects is on the Aion servers page. Among MMORPGs of a different setting with long-term PvP progression, see Scryde.
