TL;DR: TheMega (now zMega) is a long-running Lineage 2 Interlude project, live since 2010 with 16+ server launches across rates from x3 to x1000. Its hook is regular seasonal restarts — frequent fresh-start x10/x20/x30 servers — backed by a stable, mostly Russian-speaking returning playerbase.

Overview

TheMega (later zMega, domain zmega.com) is an independent Lineage 2 MMORPG project built around the Interlude chronicle. It has been live since 2010 and has run more than 16 server launches across a wide range of rates — from low-rate x3 to PvP-focused x1000. Its core audience is Russian-speaking players.

The defining feature of the model is regular seasonal launches of fresh servers. Each server starts from zero progress, goes through an active phase, then gradually moves into maintenance. Several servers with different rates run in parallel, so you can pick the pace that suits you.

Comparable projects in age and philosophy include Asterios, RPG-Club and other Lineage 2 servers.

History

The project first appears in Lineage 2 server rankings from April 2010, with its earliest aggregator listing dated June 2011. In its early years it ran under the domain themega.ru, later moving to zmega.com. Both names — TheMega and zMega — are used interchangeably by the community for the same project.

From 2011 to 2013 the x10 server earned positive ratings on Lineage 2 sites as a stable mid-rate Interlude option. Documented quirks from that era: the drop and spoil tables were pulled from Gracia Part 1/2 instead of vanilla Interlude, auto-loot and an in-game menu command were added, and skill books were made stackable.

From 2018 onward the L2ELO aggregator records regular server launches under the zmega.com brand. By 2020–2023 the lineup included PTS servers (official-build emulation), a separate High Five x5 server and a high-rate x1000. Seasonal x20 and x30 launches began landing every few months, forming a predictable cycle.

As of May 2026 the project is still running: a new Interlude x30 server was announced, with an opening date of 16 May 2026.

Gameplay & Rates

Every TheMega/zMega server is built on the Lineage 2 Interlude (C6) chronicle. The project has also run a High Five (x5) server in the past. Gameplay reproduces classic Interlude mechanics: three-stage class progression, the Nobless system and Olympiad, castle sieges, and open PvP with karma.

The range of rates across the project's history:

RateFormat
x3Hardcore long-term format; a single launch on record in 2018.
x10The core "classic" format; x10 servers launched most regularly (2011–2025).
x20–x30Popular seasonal format; x20 and x30 servers have launched several times a year since 2019.
x50Accelerated PvP format with a shorter server lifecycle.
x100A one-off launch in June 2020.
x1000PvP server with near-instant high-level access; launched in November 2020.

Early servers shipped with custom modifications: expanded spoil tables, auto-loot without external tools, and an XP-toggle via menu. The degree of customization on the project's current servers is not described in detail in public sources.

Servers

According to the L2ELO aggregator, 16 servers are on record across the project's history. A sample of launches by year:

Several servers ran under their own names: MEGA (x10), FENIX (x30 PTS), BESTIA (x50), GAMMA (x1000), HIGHFIVE (High Five x5). This lets the project keep multiple servers live in parallel for different audiences.

Community

The project's core audience is Russian-speaking players. Discussion centers on the official forum (forum.zmega.com), where launch news, guides and server-event threads are posted. Ranking aggregators record mixed reviews: some players value the regular launch cadence and server stability, while others criticize admin practices and donation-shop balance — a picture typical of this segment.

Years of regular restarts have built a stable core audience that returns for every new server. The seasonal cadence (x20/x30 every few months) keeps both regulars and lapsed players who dip back into Lineage 2 engaged.

The project is not affiliated with the official Lineage 2 servers operated by NCSoft. It should also not be confused with the official Russian publication, which runs through the 4Game platform. A full list of current projects is available in the Lineage 2 servers section.
