TL;DR: PvP in Lineage 2 runs on flags and karma. Attack a player and you turn purple โ€” a consensual fight with no penalty. Kill a peaceful white-name player and you turn red (PK), gaining karma that risks dropping your gear and turns town guards hostile. Fight freely on arenas, in siege zones and in dedicated PvP areas.

Overview

PvP is combat between players, available everywhere outside peace zones. Attack a peaceful player and you get a purple flag. Kill one and you turn red with a PK (Player Kill) status. Open-world PvP is one of the core pillars of the game world โ€” conflicts over farming spots, raid bosses and resources flare up constantly.

Flag System

Your name color tells everyone your current PvP status. Understanding the three states is the first step to surviving open-world combat.

StatusName colorWhat it means
PeacefulWhiteYou are not in PvP. You can move freely and town guards ignore you.
FlaggedPurpleYou attacked another player, or were attacked. Both fighters are flagged. Anyone can hit you with no penalty. The flag fades 30โ€“60 seconds after combat ends.
PKRedYou killed a peaceful white-name player and gained karma. Killing a purple player gives no karma โ€” that's fair, consensual PvP.

Karma & PK

PK (Player Kill) is the act of killing a peaceful, unflagged player. It grants karma โ€” and karma carries real consequences. While you hold karma, dying can make you drop equipment, including gear you have equipped. The more karma you carry, the higher the drop chance, and killing a player far below your level grants even more karma.

Karma clears gradually with every mob you kill, and at high levels this takes a long time. Your PK status is visible to everyone: your name shows red, and town guards attack you the moment you enter a settlement.

PvP Zones

Where you fight determines the penalty you face. The map is divided into several zone types.

ZonePvPPenalty
Peace zonesDisabledTowns and starter villages. No PvP at all.
Normal zonesAvailableMost of the map. PvP works but comes with flags and karma.
Siege zonesFreeCastle grounds during a castle siege. Open PvP with no karma.
PvP zonesFreeDedicated free-for-all areas, where available on the server.
ArenasFreeThe Giran Coliseum and similar. Open PvP with no consequences.

PvP content is active across the game world, and the constant fight for farming spots, raid bosses and resources keeps the open world dangerous.

PvP Tips

A few habits separate winners from corpses in open-world combat:

TipWhy it matters
Keep Noblesse Blessing activeLosing your buffs on death mid-fight is often what loses you the next exchange.
Carry a Blessed Scroll of ResurrectionGets you back into the fight fast instead of running from the nearest village.
Learn your opponent's classKnowing enemy cooldowns and skill timing is a huge edge in a duel.
Prioritize coordination in mass PvPIn sieges and clan wars, group discipline beats individual skill.
