Overview
L2 Sunrise (official site l2sunrise.com) is an unofficial Lineage 2 server running the Classic chronicles, version 2.9.x. The project offers moderate x5 rates and leans on classic-era Lineage 2 mechanics: full-scale PvP, clan castle sieges and hardcore PvE progression. The team describes the interface and client as modern while keeping the spirit of original Classic.
According to server aggregators, the latest major L2 Sunrise launch took place in 2025. The development team has not been disclosed publicly, and there is no open-source information about its composition. The server is positioned as Russian-language, with the CIS community as its core audience.
Chronicles & Rates
L2 Sunrise runs the Lineage 2 Classic, version 2.9.x chronicles. This is one of the later Classic-line updates released before the move to Essence. Version 2.9 includes expanded content compared to early Classic 1.x: instanced dungeons, reworked siege mechanics and a more varied buff system.
| Setting | Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| XP / SP rate | x5 | Moderate boost โ noticeably faster than official Classic, slower than high-rate servers. |
| Adena / Drop / Spoil | Near-official or slightly raised | Exact multipliers are published on l2sunrise.com/features. |
| Chronicles | Classic 2.9.x | Late Classic line, pre-Essence; supports sub-patches up to 2.9.5. |
Features
- Classic 2.9.x base. The version includes late Classic mechanics unavailable on early-edition servers (1.0โ1.5).
- Castle sieges. A full clan siege system is the key competitive content. The Dwarf Maestro class can summon siege weapons to assault fortifications.
- PvP system. PK/PvP flagging and a Classic-style karma system mean kills carry practical consequences (penalties, equipment drop).
- Instanced dungeons. A 6-room instance: 5 task rooms plus a final boss room. Only one party is allowed inside each instance at a time.
- Tuned DoT effects. Per the features page, healing-over-time (HoT) and damage-over-time (DoT) tick for smaller amounts but at a higher frequency โ a balance change relative to standard Classic.
- Stable online. The project claims a steady player count; exact figures are not published as of writing.
- Free-to-Play. Entry to the game is free.
Key Mechanics
Classic 2.9.x differs from the better-known chronicles (Interlude, High Five) in several ways specific to NCSoft's Classic line:
| Mechanic | How it works in Classic 2.9.x |
|---|---|
| Class progression | Streamlined class choice while keeping the core leveling path through the 1st and 2nd class transfers. |
| PvP zones | Dedicated areas with heightened PvP activity for open-field fights. |
| Economy | Classic is built around trade and crafting, less instance-dependent than later Main-line chronicles. |
Limitations
L2 Sunrise is an unofficial server, which defines its main risks:
- No publisher guarantees. NCSoft bears no responsibility for player data, payments or service stability.
- Dependence on administration. Server lifespan, balance and monetization rules are decided solely by the project team.
- Classic 2.9 โ narrow audience. The version is less popular than early Classic 1.x or Interlude, which affects party-content availability and community size.
- Limited data verifiability. Concrete online figures, team composition and first-launch date were not published publicly as of writing.
