Lu4 (Luch) — project guide

This is a practical reference for the Lu4 (Luch) project: where to download the client, how to log in to your account, which servers are live, where to look up quest information, and what your PC needs to run the game. If you want the backstory and concept instead, read our feature Lu4 — a New Lineage 2-Style World on Unreal Engine 5. This page is facts and hands-on info only.

What Is the Lu4 (Luch) Project?

Lu4 (pronounced "Luch", official site lu4.org, full name Liberta Ultimata 4) is an independent, Lineage 2-style MMORPG built by the E-Global and MasterWork (MW) teams. Its headline technical feature is moving the game off the original Unreal Engine 2 onto a modern Unreal Engine 5 build. Gameplay-wise it follows the High Five chronicle, with classic PvP, castle sieges, the Olympiad and full PvE progression. Access model: Free-to-Play.

Lu4 is an unofficial project: it is built by enthusiasts and is not affiliated with the rights holder, NCSoft. It runs independently of NCSoft on its own infrastructure. For more on the tech side and why the project drew so much attention, see our Lu4 game card.

How to Download Lu4: Client and Launcher

Everything you need to start playing lives on the official site, lu4.org. The usual flow for a new player:

  1. Register an account — the sign-up button is on the site's home page; you'll need an email and a password.
  2. Download the launcher — the site links to a small installer that then pulls down the game files.
  3. Install the client through the launcher — the launcher fetches the current client version and applies updates and patches automatically.
  4. Log in — use the login and password from your lu4.org account.

During alpha testing the client is much smaller than the final Unreal Engine 5 build will be. Check the official site or the project's Discord for the exact download size — it changes with every update. We don't list direct client mirrors here: stick to the official channel (lu4.org) to avoid modified builds.

Lu4 Account

Your account dashboard is at lu4.org — once you log in, the account management section opens up. It usually includes:

  • viewing and editing account details (email, password);
  • your character list on the current server;
  • top-up and in-game transaction history (cash shop, if present);
  • a section for game resources and bonus codes;
  • subscription or premium-status management (where available).

Exactly which sections appear depends on the project's current stage. During alpha the dashboard may be stripped down; it expands as the project moves toward full release. Forgot your password? Recovery runs through email right from the login page.

Lu4 System Requirements

Moving to Unreal Engine 5 changes the hardware bar significantly versus the original Lineage 2 on UE2. Below are ballpark figures for the alpha stage; final numbers for the full UE5 build will be higher. Watch for official announcements on lu4.org.

Component Minimum Recommended
OS Windows 10 64-bit Windows 10 / 11 64-bit
CPU Intel Core i5 / AMD Ryzen 5 (6+ cores) Intel Core i7 / AMD Ryzen 7 (8+ cores)
RAM 16 GB 32 GB
GPU NVIDIA GTX 1060 / AMD RX 580 (6 GB VRAM) NVIDIA RTX 3060 / AMD RX 6700 (8+ GB VRAM)
Storage 50+ GB HDD 50+ GB SSD
DirectX DirectX 11 DirectX 12

* Figures are approximate and reflect the alpha stage. Official system requirements are published on lu4.org.

One thing to keep in mind: Unreal Engine 5 only shows its full visuals on GPUs that support DirectX 12 and hardware ray tracing. On NVIDIA's GTX series some effects (Lumen, Nanite) run in a reduced mode or turn off entirely. For mass PvP — sieges and epic boss fights — an SSD is recommended: it cuts zone-loading and asset-streaming times noticeably.

Lu4 Servers and Online Numbers

The E-Global / MasterWork ecosystem runs several game worlds at once. At the time of writing the Eternal and Gamma servers are live, with a combined peak of roughly 6,000–7,000 players. Both run on the High Five chronicle; they differ in rates (leveling speed), economy rules and progression stage.

  • Eternal — the flagship world, built around long-term progress and a stable economy.
  • Gamma — an alternative server with different starting conditions; check the official site for current rates.

Which server fits you comes down to preference: leveling pace, population and when you join the project. The schedule for new servers, seasonal restarts and major events is posted on lu4.org and the official Discord.

A separate milestone is the Unreal Engine 5 client: its alpha was slated for June 12, 2026. Until that lands, the MasterWork servers run on a transitional client; once the UE5 build ships, a new world with upgraded graphics is expected to open.

Lu4 Knowledge Base and Quests

The project's official knowledge base is reachable through lu4.org — that's where guides, mechanics write-ups, patch notes and update news go up. To look up quests, items and locations, the community usually leans on a few sources:

  • The official lu4.org site — updated documentation and developer announcements.
  • The project's Discord server — linked from lu4.org; it has active FAQ, guide and tech-support channels.
  • MasterWork / E-Global forums and communities — historically the main hub for discussing mechanics, quests and farming routes.
  • Third-party Lineage 2 High Five wikis — most Lu4 mechanics match the original chronicle, so classic Lineage 2 databases stay useful references for quests, skills and NPCs.

The Lu4 interface is fully localized into Russian: the project's core audience is the Russian-speaking community, and the localization covers all in-game text, quests and UI. For players from CIS countries there's no language barrier.

If you're hunting for alternatives in the classic MMORPG genre, take a look at Scryde. It's a standalone project (not Lineage 2) with a long track record, its own servers and more than eleven years of stable operation — a good fit if you want an old-school RPG atmosphere with a dedicated team and original mechanics.
