Overview
A subclass gives your character a second (or third, or fourth) class. You can add up to 3 subclasses, and you switch between them through a Grand Master NPC. With subclasses you can flip your role โ DD, tank, support โ without ever creating a new character.
Restrictions
You cannot take a subclass from the same development tree as your main class. If your main is a Dark Avenger, Paladin is locked. Human and Elf classes are open to each other as subclasses, while Orcs and Dwarves come with their own restrictions.
| Rule | How it works |
|---|---|
| Starting level | Every subclass begins at level 40 and levels independently. |
| Progress stored | When you switch at a Grand Master, each subclass keeps its own level, skills and XP. |
| Gear | Equipment is tied to your active class โ swap classes and incompatible gear comes off. |
| Subclass skills | You use subclass skills on your main through certificates (see below). |
Subclass Certificates
Level a subclass to 65+ and you can claim a certificate โ a special skill that works on your main class. Certificates are issued by an NPC in Ivory Tower.
| Certificate | Requirement | What it grants |
|---|---|---|
| Emergency | Subclass level 65+ | Basic passive bonuses. |
| Master | Subclass level 70+ | Improved stat bonuses. |
| Transformation | Subclass level 75+ | Subclass transformations. |
Certificates are the main reason to level subclasses at all. They give your main class permanent passive bonuses โ HP, MP, speed and resistances. With three fully developed subclasses, your character becomes significantly stronger.
Class Change (Reprofiling)
Reprofiling (class change) is a custom mechanic that lets you swap your main or extra class without losing levels. Classic Lineage 2 has no such option. Reprofiling costs resources โ Adena and special items โ and the exact terms depend on the server.
This is your chance to fix a class pick you regret or try out a different role. When you reprofile, the skills of your old class are lost and you study the new class's skills instead; incompatible gear is unequipped. Reprofiling is especially valuable when you want to change role while keeping all of your progress.
