TL;DR: Class transfer is the core progression milestone in Lineage 2 โ€” 1st transfer at level 20, 2nd at 40, 3rd at 76. Each one unlocks key skills and makes your character noticeably stronger. Choose carefully: without a class reroll the pick is permanent. All transfers start and finish at the Grand Master.

Overview

The class transfer quest is a mandatory step toward changing your class. You earn your 1st class transfer at level 20, the 2nd at 40, and the 3rd at 76. Each one unlocks new skills and makes your character stronger. Skip a transfer and you miss key skills and stay far weaker than you should be. The quest begins and ends at the Grand Master.

1st Class Transfer

Head to the Grand Master in your starting town. You will need to kill specific mobs and collect items. The difficulty is low. Each race and base class has its own quest chain. For example, a Human Fighter can become a Warrior or a Knight, while a Human Mystic can become a Wizard or a Cleric. Your 1st class choice sets your entire development path. The quest takes 30-60 minutes and sends you to 1-2 locations near town. When you finish, you unlock new skills and stronger gear.

2nd Class Transfer

This quest is harder and runs across several stages. You travel between towns (use the Gatekeeper to teleport), fight quest mobs and talk to NPCs. The 2nd class transfer is available at level 40 โ€” this is where you lock in your final archetype (for example Dark Avenger, Spellhowler or Prophet). First gather the quest items from mobs, then clear a trial at the NPC. The mobs sit in level 35-45 zones. On many servers the quest is streamlined and the required item count is lowered. After your 2nd class transfer you unlock the powerful skills that define your role in a party.

3rd Class Transfer

Available at level 76. In Classic chronicles this needed a long quest chain, but many servers grant the 3rd class transfer automatically or through a streamlined quest at the Grand Master. It unlocks your final class skills and is required before you can earn subclass certificates. After the 3rd class transfer your character is fully developed and ready for the endgame: castle sieges, the Olympiad and Epic Boss raids.

Quest Tips

Before you commit, study a class tier list โ€” the choice is permanent without a class reroll. For the 1st class transfer, stock up on Soulshots in advance so quest mobs drop faster. During the 2nd transfer, use the teleports or you will waste hours running between towns on foot. If your server offers a class reroll (switching class without losing levels), you can gamble on the pick, but it costs resources โ€” picking right the first time is better. Run the 2nd class transfer in a group, since quest mobs are shared across all classes of the same race. For a full leveling plan before and after each transfer, see the leveling guide.
