Overview
The Codex of Giant is a scroll used to learn 3rd class transfer skills (level 76+). You get it as a drop in Catacombs and Necropolises, or buy it from other players. Every 3rd-class skill costs several codexes, making it one of the key materials for completing your 3rd class transfer.
Where to Farm
The Codex of Giant drops from monsters in Catacombs and Necropolises. The mobs there hit hard, so the fastest way to farm is in a party of 3-5 players. The winning side of Seven Signs also gets bonus access to the Catacombs, opening up extra farm.

How Many You Need
Each 3rd-class skill costs between 5 and 15 codexes to learn, depending on the skill's level. Fully learning every skill on a single character takes roughly 80-120 codexes. On low-rate servers this can mean several weeks of farming, so it pays to plan ahead.
