Overview
Attributes (Elements) let you add an elemental property to your weapon or elemental defense to your armor. There are six elements: Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Dark and Holy. You insert them with Attribute Stones. At high levels, attributes decide the outcome of PvP and set the pace of your PvE farming.
Elements & Opposites
Every element has an antagonist: Fire โ Water, Wind โ Earth, Dark โ Holy. An offensive attribute on your weapon hits harder against targets with low resistance to that element. A defensive attribute on your armor soaks incoming elemental damage.
| Element | Opposite |
|---|---|
| Fire | Water |
| Water | Fire |
| Wind | Earth |
| Earth | Wind |
| Dark | Holy |
| Holy | Dark |
You set only one attribute on a weapon. Armor accepts all six defensive attributes at once โ each piece (helmet, chest, gloves, leggings, boots) contributes its share. The cap for an offensive attribute is 300; for a defensive attribute it is 120 per armor piece.
Inserting Attributes
You will need an Attribute Stone or an Attribute Crystal. A Stone grants +1 to +5 points, a Crystal grants +6. Stones drop from mobs in level 76+ zones (Hellbound, Forge of the Gods, Seed of Annihilation).
| Item | Gain per insert | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Attribute Stone | +1 to +5 | Early and mid attribute levels |
| Attribute Crystal | +6 (fixed) | High levels, where points come slowly |
Open your inventory and drag the Stone onto the gear piece. Up to a certain level the success chance is 100%, after which it falls off. On a failed insert you lose the Stone, but your attribute level does not drop. You cannot insert an opposing attribute into a weapon โ if Water is already set, Fire will not go in.
Class Recommendations
Mages โ set the attribute that matches your main spells: Spellhowler takes Wind, Sorcerer takes Fire, Necromancer takes Dark. Fighters โ the weapon attribute matters more than armor. Pick the element that most of your opponents defend against poorly.
| Class | Recommended attribute |
|---|---|
| Spellhowler | Wind |
| Sorcerer | Fire |
| Necromancer | Dark |
| Fighters | Element your enemies resist least |
In PvP, study the popular builds on your server and stack defense against the most common element. In PvE, match the attribute to your farming zone โ mobs in different locations are weak to different elements. The attribute system follows the standard L2-style mechanics, though Stones may be reachable through extra sources.
