TL;DR: Enchanting boosts your gear with scrolls โ€” +1 at a time. Up to +3 it's a guaranteed 100% success; beyond that a failed regular scroll crystallizes the item for good. Blessed scrolls reset to +0 instead of destroying, so use them on A/S-grade. For PvP aim for +10โ€“12 weapons; for PvE, +4โ€“6 is enough.

Overview

Enchanting strengthens your equipment with scrolls, and every +1 raises the item's stats. Up to +3 enchant is safe โ€” a 100% success rate. Past +3 a failure chance appears. You enchant with the Enchant Weapon Scroll (EWS) and Enchant Armor Scroll (EAS).

Enchant Rates

The table below shows the typical enchant rate by level. A failed regular scroll destroys the item (crystallization). Exact rates vary by server.

Enchant levelSuccess rateOn failure
+1 to +3100% (safe enchant)No risk
+4~66%Item crystallized (regular scroll)
+5 to +6~50%Item crystallized (regular scroll)
+7 and above~33%Item crystallized (regular scroll)

There is no formal enchant cap, but in practice +16 is the limit of reason. Every attempt past +10 is a huge gamble. Scrolls are grade-locked: D/C/B/A/S โ€” each works only with its matching gear grade.

Blessed Scrolls

On a failed enchant, the Blessed Scroll of Enchant (BEWS / BEAS) doesn't destroy the item โ€” it resets it to +0. It costs 5โ€“10 times more than a regular scroll, but losing a top-grade weapon will cost you dozens of times more. For A- and S-grade gear, use Blessed scrolls only.

Where to find them: through the Olympiad (for tokens from the Olympiad Manager), Raid Boss drops, or buying from players via trade.

Enchant Bonuses

SlotStat per +1Notes
WeaponFlat P.Atk or M.AtkTwo-handed weapons gain a larger bonus per +1. At +4 and above the weapon glows โ€” blue, then red, then gold.
ArmorP.DefFull body armor gives a bigger bonus than separate pieces.
JewelryM.DefEarrings, rings and necklaces enchant too, but at lower rates and crystallize on failure.

Beyond enchanting, you can also strengthen a weapon with augmentation and a Special Ability (SA).

Enchant Strategy

Never use regular scrolls on something you aren't ready to lose. For PvP, the sweet spot is +10โ€“12 on weapons (a glowing weapon is noticeably stronger) and +6โ€“8 on armor โ€” see the PvP guide for details. For PvE, +4โ€“6 across the board is plenty.

Before you start, set a budget: how many scrolls you're willing to sink and the minimum result you'll accept. Event scrolls with boosted rates appear periodically, so watch the news. For making the Adena to buy scrolls, see the economy guide, and for gear choices, the equipment guide.
