Alliance System Overview
You choose one of two warring factions and gain access to unique quests, merchants and rewards. Ketra Orcs and Varka Silenos are two villages in the Goddard region locked in an endless war with each other.
The moment you join one side you automatically become an enemy of the other. Mobs from the rival village will attack you on sight. Start the quest chain through the alliance quest.
Ketra Orcs Alliance
Kill Varka Silenos mobs to earn reputation with the Ketra Orcs. Every kill grants points. There are 5 alliance levels in total, and each next level requires more points and a separate quest.
At higher levels you gain access to unique Ketra merchants with special buffs and potions. Farming Varka Silenos yields solid XP and Adena. Bring a party with a Prophet for far better efficiency.
Varka Silenos Alliance
Want to side with Varka instead? Kill Ketra Orcs. The mechanic is the same, but the rewards differ. Varka offers its own set of bonuses and merchants. Be warned: Ketra mobs hit hard, so prepare solid gear first.
You can switch between factions, but you will have to fully reset your reputation and grind the points again from scratch. The process is long, so choose deliberately. You can reach the zone through the Gatekeeper in Goddard.
Rewards & Which to Choose
At the maximum alliance level you unlock unique buffs (similar to part of the Warcryer buff set), special quests for crafting materials, and the ability to summon allied NPCs in combat. You also gain access to raid-boss quests — the faction bosses drop valuable loot.
So which faction should you choose? Both are roughly equal in value. Decide based on which farming location is more convenient and which mobs you prefer fighting. For more on leveling in these zones, see the leveling guide.
