TL;DR: The talent system is a custom progression layer with three trees โ€” Attack, Defense and Utility. You earn points by killing mobs, questing and joining events, then spend them on passive bonuses. Build into your role's tree, stay focused, and reset for a cost when you change playstyle.

Overview

The talent system is a custom mechanic that adds a second progression layer to your character. Talents grant passive bonuses: more damage, sturdier defense, faster regen. You earn points by killing mobs and completing quests. This system is unique to the project and is absent from the classic version of the game. For details on the available worlds, see the Server X page.

Earning Points

Killing mobs is your main source. Each mob grants points based on its level. Quests give one-time bonuses, and events (limited-time activities) add extra points on top.

Points are tracked separately from EXP and SP. Even at max level you keep earning them. The total is capped, though โ€” you can't max every tree โ€” so set your priorities.

Talent Trees

Talents are split into several trees (the exact set can differ from server to server). Each tree targets a different role:

TreeBonusesBest for
AttackP.Atk, M.Atk, critical damage, Atk. SpdDDs โ€” Destroyer, Spellhowler, Hawkeye and others
DefenseP.Def, M.Def, max HP, crowd-control resistanceTanks โ€” Paladin, Dark Avenger, Shillien Knight
UtilityHP/MP regen, run speed, MP efficiency, healing powerSupports โ€” Prophet, Bishop, Elder

Each tree has several tiers. The deeper you invest, the stronger the bonuses โ€” but the cost climbs with every tier.

Allocation Tips

Pour talents into your main role: DDs into Attack, tanks into Defense, supports into Utility. Not sure of your class type? Check the tier list. Don't spread points across every tree โ€” a focused build is always stronger.

For PvP, even a DD benefits from putting some points into Defense โ€” staying alive in a fight matters more than pure damage. For details, see the PvP guide. For PvE, max out Attack for faster farming. Talents can differ between servers, so check the current setup on your own server. A talent reset is available for a cost. Match your gear to the same tree โ€” items and talents should reinforce each other.
